We’re a large College with over 13,000 students, delivering more than 20 subjects across four main campuses. For your child it means being part of a large and vibrant community that benefits them as they prepare for the workplace or university. The diverse environment offers an excellent opportunity to meet a broader range of people and a larger college brings with it bigger and better facilities with state-of-the-art campuses.

Whether your child has applied for a course to progress onto university, a specific job or an apprenticeship, what is paramount to us is being in line with the needs of our local economy and working closely with strategic partners to adapt the content of courses to ensure it is relevant to employers and university progression.

One of our keys aims as a college is to address the lag between the emergence of new technologies and the skills needed to maximise them. As part of this, we launched CETEC (Centre of Excellence for Technology Enhanced Care) and our dental facilities. We plan to become the London Hub for telecare and assisted living technologies’ training and our new dentistry courses and apprenticeships will ensure that our students receive industry specific skills leading to the right job.

Deconstructing perceptions around vocational jobs and working closely with employers and economists are all vital components to our success. We continually analyse the jobs market, filling any skills gaps that may be developing with the appropriate courses, so you will be proud that your child is training with us, and feel safe in the knowledge that they will be job ready.

Employability is at the core of everything we do; work placements and industry experience are integral to most courses and it’s this experience that gives our students the competitive edge when looking for a job or securing a place at university. The future economy needs a vocational and technically skilled workforce, at Barnet and Southgate College we will expand your child's horizons and help align their skills with the jobs that are out there, and they will be joining a friendly, supportive and successful College.
